General FAQs
On December 5, DynaLIFE will begin providing community and non-urgent hospital lab services throughout the entire province.
On June 2, 2022, the Government of Alberta announced DynaLIFE was awarded the service agreement by Alberta Heath Services (AHS) to offer expanded community lab services in urban and rural patient service centres and mobile collections facilities.
This announcement entails the transition of community labs currently operating under Alberta Precision Labs (APL) to DynaLIFE.
There are minimal impacts to existing DynaLIFE patients.
Until December 5, there is minimal impact to APL patients.
However, on December 5, for a period of four to eight weeks, there will be some changes for APL patients to navigate.
For example:
Booking appointments. To book a lab appointment, patients will be able to sign up for our new user-friendly online booking tool Q.Me.
Where you go for your lab work. Existing APL patients may experience one of the following:
- No change to the lab you have been accustomed to going to, but you will see a new name on the door.
- You may be redirected to an alternate nearby lab or brand new lab that has opened in your community (see changes by zone for more information about location changes in your community).
DynaLIFE, APL and Alberta Health Services are working collaboratively to ensure patients and healthcare providers are kept up to date on any changes.

Online Appointment Booking FAQs
This is DynaLIFE’s Q.Me centralized online appointment system, where all Albertans will be able to book and manage their appointments.
The province wide booking system was developed by our DynaLIFE team and provides several features for patients to manage their appointments efficiently.
DynaLIFE’s appointment booking system also has a patient queue management feature called “Save My Place” at a number of locations where patients can find same day scheduling opportunities to have a collection done if they didn’t make an appointment. The app is mobile friendly, making it easier to book appointments from smart devices.
APL and DynaLIFE are working closely together to transition patients currently using APL’s booking systems to DynaLIFE’s province-wide appointment booking system starting December 5. We are not expecting significant impact to patients using either booking system before December 5, except for patients in Grande Prairie and Leduc
Patients in Grande Prairie and Leduc looking to book appointments taking place after December 5 will need to call the DynaLIFE appointment booking line (1-877-702-4486) or visit https://qme.dynalife.ca to book an appointment at the new Patient Service Center location.
APL patients who have made appointments for after December 5 will automatically be migrated over to DynaLIFE’s appointment system with little impact to their appointment.
In certain very localized cases, after December 5, some patients may be redirected to a new Patient Service Centre to have their collection done, but their appointment time will not change.
DynaLIFE will be working with these patients to make sure they are aware of any possible location changes. In Grande Prairie, Leduc, Okotoks and Strathmore new Patient Service Centres will begin performing community collections on December 5.
After December 5, all patients can CLICK HERE to go directly to our online appointment booking system. The URL address is https://qme.dynalife.ca.

The launch of DynaLIFE’s Q.Me appointment system provides patients with more ways to access lab services. Walk-in visits are always an option and may be a good choice if you are not fasting or do not require a special collection. Patients can visit www.qme.dynalife.ca to create an account and book an appointment, book an appointment as a guest or use the “save my place” function to add themselves to the queue for a same day appointment. Patients can also call 1-877-702-4486 to book an appointment.
Timeline for Transition
Phase 1
Focuses on transition of laboratory services in North, Central, Edmonton, and Calgary zones and moving to a centralized, province-wide appointment booking system.
Community Labs (Patient Service Centres) in
- Leduc
- Grande Prairie
- Calgary and surrounding areas, including Strathmore and Okotoks
will transition from being served by APL to being served by DynaLIFE. Any patients already being served by a DynaLIFE location will not experience any notable impacts.
Patients across the province of Alberta will transition to a single central booking system to schedule all community lab service appointments.
Patients who have been using APL’s Appointment Booking System on their website will begin using DynaLIFE’s Appointment Booking System (Q.Me) at https://qme.dynalife.ca. This includes patients in Calgary and surrounding areas, the South Zone, and rural communities across the province.
APL is assuming all operations for laboratories in acute care locations (hospitals), which means there will be some minor changes in the northern part of the province, specifically High Level, Fort Vermilion, La Crete and Fort McMurray. However, these changes are operational and would not affect how patients are receiving lab services in those communities.

Focuses on transition of laboratory services in the South zone.
Community Labs, (Patient Service Centres) in

- Brooks
will transition from being served by APL to being served by DynaLIFE.
Patients in Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Brooks, and other areas of the South Zone would already have transitioned to DynaLIFE’s central booking system as part of Phase 1 of the transition (on December 5, 2022). Patients in these communities will continue to use https://qme.dynalife.ca to schedule all community lab service appointments.
APL is assuming all operations of laboratories in acute care locations (hospitals), which means there will be some changes in hospital lab operations in the southern part of the part of the province in Phase 2; however, these changes are operational and would not directly impact patients.
