DynaLIFE is activating possibility in Alberta’s capital city and beyond. Not only is Edmonton home to 700 staff at our 110,000 square foot central testing facility, peel back the layers and you’ll find an intricate diagnostic hub fueled by collaborative innovation.
Working with Alberta’s science leaders, small businesses, entrepreneurs and funding agencies, DynaLIFE is taking the guesswork out of healthcare. Every day, our dedicated team is improving diagnostic capacity and speeding discovery.
“DynaLIFE has always been a firm believer in the transformative power of innovation and leadership,” says Jason Pincock, CEO of DynaLIFE. “We are proud to support breakthroughs that will have a direct impact on patient outcomes and precious health care resources.”
DynaLIFE’s Accelerator Lab is a shining example of this commitment in action. Established in 2017, the research and development incubator has already proven its value.
“We’ve been quite intentional in our approach,” explains Pincock. “For the last 60 years DynaLIFE has been the face of diagnostics in Alberta’s communities but behind the scene there is a tremendous amount of effort that goes into exploring beneficial partnerships, harnessing technology and bringing forward vital new developments.”
The Accelerator Lab goal is twofold. Just as DynaLIFE is eager to create shared spaces where bright minds can work together to propel research, translation and application, we also want to nurture a culture of collaborative curiosity that will move the needle in areas of great importance to Albertans. And that’s exactly what’s happening.
In the spring of 2019, Metabolomic Technologies Inc. (MTI) and DynaLIFE unveiled a truly life altering diagnostic tool. PolypDx™ equips healthcare professionals with a mechanism for early screening and detection. This technology enables the timely removal of polyps before they progress to colorectal cancer, which is the second-most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canada, and the second and third leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men and women, respectively.
Looking for even more tangible results in this space, last year DynaLIFE also partnered with artificial intelligence and machine learning experts, AltaML on a leading-edge colon polyp identification and analysis initiative. Together we are continuing to explore how digitization can transform the pathology landscape.
Great ideas, people, and technology are the underpinning of DynaLIFE’s continued success. The Accelerator Lab was the first healthcare site in Canada to install Siemens Healthineers Atellica® Solution in early 2019. At the time of installation, DynaLIFE was also the largest Siemen’s Atellica Solution automation site in the world.
“With customized equipment and better sample management we can gain the traction required for enhanced health outcomes,” says Pincock. “In fact, investment into flexible, scalable, automation-ready immunoassay and chemistry analyzers has facilitated a 65% boost to our annual lab test capacity in this area.”
It’s all very impressive but not surprising. Since its inception so many years ago, DynaLIFE has retained a focus on quiet yet meaningful achievement.
